The Western Cape’s Overberg region is a favourite holiday destination for both locals and tourists alike. Just 16km outside of Hermanus, this sleepy village was founded in 1857 by Sir Robert Stanford, from whom the town takes its name. Crammed full of quaint guest houses, B&Bs, and hotels, Felicita stands above the rest as a shining jewel on the map of the Overberg district.
Dominating the top of a Stanford valley hillside, Felicita’s north-facing and uniquely styled self-catering cottage and Manor House boast light, space and spectacular views of the Overberg’s majestic Klein River mountains. Interestingly, Stanford is well known for being home to the Klein River, the shortest river (as the crow flies) in the world.
Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and truly an enchanting place, Felicita is where mind, body and soul are restored and soothed into tranquillity. Where stress melts away as you drink in the surrounding beauty of fynbos reserves that showcase the region’s indigenous flora.
Both the Villa and the Manor House are self-catering, but you’ll find everything you need here, whether you’re stopping in for an overnight on your way up the Garden Route, or the town of Stanford is your final destination. And with its pristine beaches that stretch on for kilometers, really, who wants to go anywhere else?
Whether you’re staying in the Villa or the Manor House, you’re sure to run into Queeni, Felicita’s resident ostrich. This friendly girl has the run of the farm and can often be found wandering the grounds in the early morning. Her eggs are used in the kitchen when catering for events and are a firm favourite amongst guests. Just watch out though, she loves bling! Although the Villa is pet-friendly, allowing your furkids to run free, the Manor House is not, so visiting dogs are best accommodated at the cottage.
